The Cantab Capital Institute for the Mathematics of Information has been pleased to host Antonin Chambolle since April of this year. Antonin is usually based in France at the CMAP “Centre de Mathématiques Appliquées” at Ecole Polytechnique and CNRS, Palaiseau, France near Paris. His research is in nonlinear analysis, optimisation and image analysis.

During his time at CCIMI as a visiting scientist he has given a short lecture series on Optimization for imaging and data analysis, as well as co-supervising interns in the Cambridge Image Analysis group. Antonin has been involved in a number of projects, in particular stochastic optimization for distributed problems, image inpainting and graph clustering. Whilst working in Cambridge he has also spent time completing a review paper for Acta Numerica (C.U.P.) with T. Prock from Graz University of Technology on optimization for imaging.

The centre has benefited much from Antonin’s visit, and hope to host him again at a future date.
