Tomography and its applications in medical, atmospheric, and forensic imaging – Advances in theory and practice

The Institute for Mathematical Innovation is hosting a free workshop on:

Tomography and its applications in medical, atmospheric, and forensic imaging – Advances in theory and practice

University of Bath  –  25 October 2017

REGISTER NOW >>

Aimed at developers and practitioners of tomography in the UK, this workshop will cover:

  • The mathematical theory of the various forms of tomography
  • The practical implementation of tomography, and its many applications

Tomography is one of the most important techniques in imaging. Originally used solely in medical imaging the technique has now become much more diverse and is used in a wide range of fields including atmospheric imaging and land mine detection. The technique is even used to study bees in situ.

From its roots in the field of X-ray imaging, tomography now includes Electrical Impedance Tomography (EIT) and GPS tomography.

Speakers from across the UK
Professor Chris Budd – University of Bath
Neil Chada – University of Warwick
Professor Bill Lionheart – University of Manchester
Professor Cathryn Mitchell – University of Bath
Dr Carola-Bibiane Schönlieb – University of Cambridge
Professor Manchehr Soleimani – University of Bath

Throughout the workshop, there will be plenty of opportunities for networking and discussions.
